Innovative drive and engine technology.

The newest generation of TDI engines stand out for their high torque and excellent efficiency.

The TDI diesel engines.

The 2.0 l common rail TDI engines are extremely efficient. The advantage of this innovative technology: diesel fuel is fed to the combustion chamber via one single pipe (common rail). This means that injection pressure is kept at a constant level for all valves. The diesel fuel is injected as very fine spray at up to 1,800 bar into the combustion chamber where it burns evenly. Four of these engines are available for the Transporter Kombi: the 2.0 l TDI with 102 HP*, the 2.0 l TDI with 140 HP* and the 2.0 l BiTDI 180 HP*.

7 gears ensure a totally new driving sensation.

The optionally available dual clutch gearbox (DSG) changes gears automatically with no interruption in power flow. It is available for the TDI engines with 140 HP* and 180 HP*.

4MOTION drive - powerful and up for a challenge.

Many challenges await us on the roads: wet leaves, coarse gravel, muddy earth. With 4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive, even these road surfaces may give you some pleasure as power is distributed to the front and rear axle according to the driving situation. 4MOTION therefore assures good traction, optimal handling and excellent steering characteristics, even in difficult conditions. Should you often drive off the beaten track, a mechanical rear axle differential lock is available as an option.

Arrive safely – mastering all obstacles.

Small earth mounds on building sites and steep inclines can be mastered almost effortlessly up to a slope of 37° by the Transporter Panel Van with 180 HP engine* and a vehicle weight of 3,000 kg.

With the Transporter Panel Van you can cross puddles or standing water up to a depth of 30 cm easily. Flooded roads and building sites after heavy rainfall also present no difficulties – the vehicle has a wading depth of up to 300 mm (measured with full load and a maximum of 30 km/h).

Short inclines are also no problem for the Transporter Panel Van. Due to the wheelbase, the bumpers do not make contact with the ground even when the approach angle is 21°. The maximum departure angle is 17° (measured with standard equipment and a full load).

So that the journey over difficult roads and small inclines does not end abruptly, the Transporter Panel Van can even easily cope with crests with a ramp angle of up to 14° (also measured with standard equipment and full load).

Specialist for tricky surfaces.

Volkswagen offers various running gear options for special use – for example, the extremely robust heavy-duty running gear for slippery, loose surfaces as often found at building sites.
